Because so many aspects of woodwork are covered it is impossible to get judges competent in all fields so a variety of interests are covered to give a balanced view. The three judges this year are Roy Buckley, Kevin McCardell, Graeme Priddle. To make it as fair as possible, the competitors' names on their works are covered for the judging. Each judge awards marks out of 50 :
Design (out of 20) which includes spatial design & visual impact (except in the Intarsia & Marquetry and Toys & Models categories - see Conditions of Entry).
Craftsmanship (out of 30) which includes appropriateness of material, quality of workmanship & quality of finish
The marks of the three judges will be added together for the final mark (out of 150).
